Nintendo 3DS Review – Should You Buy a 3DS?

If you haven’t already heard, Nintendo 3DS is the new Wii and the new Avatar (sorry James Cameron).
Since June of last year, when the 3DS was revealed at the E3 convention, people have been all abuzz over this little gaming device that has the gaming world taking notice and giving Nintendo the spotlight once again.
In the recent years, the DS and the DS Lite wasn’t really considered to be a hardcore gaming device and was typically branded as a casual gaming rig. Now Nintendo wants to change all that with the Nintendo 3DS. A powerful device that can show you eye popping 3D without those goofy looking glasses.
Nintendo 3DS Specs and Details
In the way of giving a true gamer an experience that makes it worth the retail price of $249.99, there are a lot of features that the person will notice are a carry over from previous incarnations of the gaming system. There are a lot of different aspects that a person that has gotten accustomed to the DS line will quickly recognize as being better on this version.
One thing that will be an obvious new addition is the three cameras that are included with the device, two of these are an external camera while one is an internal. Take note that this is a 3D camera which can take your own 3D Videos. This is one of the major improvements that Nintendo has made. This improvement is considered to be one of the crowning achievements for the people at the manufacturer.

You won't be needing this anymore!
Unlike previous models the 3DS offers more functionality in a smaller package. The entire unit is only around 8 ounces in total weight. This makes carrying it around a lot easier, and more convenient for a user that truly loves their games. When it came to the top screen, there were some massive improvements that make this model a lot more desirable to a user.
The larger 3.53-inch widescreen LCD display, allows a user to enable the 3D mode without the use of special glasses for game play this is possible with the 800×240 pixel resolution. This resolution has made arrangements for each eye to have 400 pixels; this is how the 3D effect is able to be accomplished without the glasses.
The Nintendo 3DS will have a 2GB card that will be available to be used. This is unfortunately the highest of a card that will be recognized by the system. There is talk of this being changed in the next improvements. The 2GB will still be plenty for even the most hardcore of gamers to store all their games and still have plenty of room left over.
One area that also has seen massive improvements is the wireless capacity of the 3DS. There is the option to connect to a LAN server, or if you and your friends are close by, the ability to connect wireless to the others that are around you and your system. This is the one area that many players had been demanding for years and the people at Nintendo actually listened and made the needed adjustments.

There are definitely plenty of reviews of the system that all point to one central thought. The boys at Nintendo got it right with this version. All of the improvements that people for years have been demanding are finally in one central location.
The graphics are way better than they previously had been. There were some reports that it’s even better than the Wii and as the screenshots show, it’s totally better than the PSP. The controls are not as clumsy for a person to use and they included the new Analog controller which they call the “Slide Pad”. This was a problem before that many users complained about to the maker saying that it was not natural to play games with.

The ability to connect with other users wirelessly is a huge advantage that the 3DS has over the previous models. As there is a lot more stable connection and there is not as easily the chance of interference to break your connection. This allows for you and your friends to go head to head on many of the popular titles that are available for the system.

Notice how it POPS OUT of the screen?
Speaking of titles, there is a big support for third party games in the 3DS. It’s amazing how many game developers are on board this project. Famed Hideo Kojima is making another Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D for the 3DS. Capcom’s Resident Evil Revelations is in the works and Kingdom Hearts 3D is also being developed by Square Enix and Disney. It’s certainly going to be big.
Not to mention the Nintendo in house titles that are being developed as well such as the RPG game Paper Mario 3D, the fun and exciting Mario Kart 3D, the cute and enjoyable Animal Crossing 3D, the multi-awarded pet simulator Nintendogs + Cats and the almost perfect game The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D. These games are just the tip of the iceberg as a lot more 3DS games are being developed. Check the entire 3DS games list that is being developed as we speak.
Bottom Line for the 3DS
So bottom line for the Nintendo? They have really outdone themselves yet again. Although, I still cannot say that this device is perfect but looking at the line up of games, it’s processing power and it’s features, I can say it’s almost close.
This is the first time I already personally preordered a nintendo 3DS myself. After taking the world by storm with the very innovative Wii, they’re doing it again with the Nintendo 3DS. I think it’s pretty safe to say that the console wars is over and Nintendo has won hands down.
Are you getting this baby? I know I am.
So what are you waiting for? Buy one now from Amazon before it’s too late. The Nintendo 3DS was already SOLD OUT in ONE DAY when it launched in Japan. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the same here and we will have a shortage once it comes out. You don’t want to buy this at double/triple the price from those hoarders from eBay. Buy the 3DS now from Amazon.
